Striker: Facing Newcastle will be the cup final for every Championship team

New signing Dwight Gayle has gone on to explain why it will be very difficult for Newcastle United during the upcoming Championship campaign.

Newcastle United have already spent in excess of £25 million on new signings this summer and the big investment allied by Magpies’ already strong squad has led many to believe that Rafael Benitez’s men will be able to stroll their way to the Championship title during the upcoming campaign.

It is certainly true that Newcastle boast a significantly much stronger team on paper in comparison to the rest of the division and the Tyneside based outfit possess arguably one of the best managers in the world in the form of Rafael Benitez.

Despite these factors though, new Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is not getting complacent and on the contrary, has revealed why it will be very difficult for the Magpies to earn promotion this season.

Gayle told the Chronicle, “The Championship has some great teams in it this year as it always does. It’s always competitive and 46 games in a season isn’t easy.

“You will have five or six teams fighting for the top three positions every week so it’s going to be hard. You need a big squad and that’s what we have here with a good set of players.

“We’re going to try to do our best, people have us as favourites but that also brings a difficulty sometimes. Everybody will come here and try to do their hardest as it’s everybody’s cup final playing in front of 50,000 at a stadium like this. We are going to have be ready.”
