Ex-Sunderland star rips into Newcastle United player

Sissoko

Former Sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison has slammed Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Moussa Sissoko was arguably one of the stars of the 2016 European Championships and he put in a wonderful performance in the final for France.

Sissoko’s displays have understandably impressed many and a host of top clubs are now believed to be keen on securing the services of the 26-year-old this summer.

However Newcastle United fans have been left angered at seeing Sissoko do so well for the French national team, mainly due to the fact that he did not perform nearly as well at club level last season.

Now former Sunderland star Don Hutchison has gone on to echo the sentiments of the Newcastle faithful and has stated that he was ‘embarrassed’ to see Sissoko’s performance in the final of the European Championships.

In his column for the Chronicle, Hutchison explained that Sissoko’s displays in France proved that he was not motivated enough to play for Newcastle last season and added that the Magpies should get rid of the former Toulouse star immediately.

He stated: “I was embarrassed watching Moussa Sissoko in the final of Euro 2016. Sissoko’s form for Newcastle over the last three years has been patchy, to say the least. He’s been a key man in a team that has struggled for the last two years and far too often he’s been anonymous in black and white stripes.

“So to see him running one of the biggest games in world football was hard to swallow. Where were those performances for Newcastle on a consistent basis? I couldn’t help feeling a little bit conned by it. If I was Newcastle I’d look to cash in on Sissoko because it’s evidently a mentality thing with him.”
