Report: Newcastle United still have a chance of agreeing deal for attacker

Thauvin

Newcastle United are still hopeful of selling Florian Thauvin to Lazio despite the controversial exit of manager Marcelo Bielsa, according to reports from Tutto Mercato.

Thauvin arrived at Newcastle United from Marseille for a sizeable £15 million but he failed miserably to fulfill the huge price tag and following the Magpies’ relegation into the Championship, it looks all but certain that the 23-year-old will be leaving St. James’ Park this summer.

It was claimed recently that Serie A outfit Lazio were keen on securing the services of Thauvin this summer but in a recent development, the sudden resignation of manager Marcelo Bielsa was believed to have put the prospective transfer into jeopardy.

As a huge boost for Newcastle though, Tutto Mercato have gone on to reveal that Lazio still maintain an interest in signing Thauvin despite the exit of Bielsa and the Magpies getting rid of their flop signing this summer remains a distinct possibility.
