International keen on joining Newcastle United

Grant Hanley is currently holding out for a move to Newcastle United, according to reports from the Chronicle.

Having dispensed with the services of Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini this summer, Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is currently on the lookout to sign a new central defender and Blackburn Rovers star Grant Hanley has been widely mentioned as a target for the Spaniard.

Recently, reports had claimed that Newcastle had placed multiple bids in an attempt to sign Hanley but their approaches of around £3.5 million and £4.5 million were both knocked back by Blackburn.

Blackburn are known to be notoriously difficult to negotiate with and it is believed that the Lancashire based outfit are currently holding out for a fee of around £6 million.

It remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle do indeed decide to match Blackburn’s asking price for Hanley but as a boost to the Magpies’ hopes of successfully completing the deal, the Chronicle have revealed that the defender is desperate for a move to St. James’ Park and is currently holding out for a transfer this summer.
