Since the Newcastle United board slapped a £35m price tag on Moussa Sissoko, the silence has been deafening.
Now according to ESPN, he’s a wanted man with Juventus joining Liverpool’s interest in his services. The story is given ‘credibility’ with the apparent source being someone close to Newcastle United. Of course, we know that this deserves a healthy dose of cynicism but honestly, the sooner a deal is struck, the better it is for all parties.
It’s becoming a distraction with the media attention focusing on ‘will he, won’t he’.
In one sense, that’s good for the players; no-one is watching them too closely and they can prepare for the new season with the spotlight shining elsewhere. But they need to build strong understandings with team-mates who will be around in six weeks time, not one whose heart has skipped town.
Let’s get it sorted and the man’s locker cleared.
