Steven Taylor is set to finalise his move to the MLS according to the Shields Gazette.
The central defender has reportedly passed a medical and agreed personal terms with Portland Timbers, ending his 13 year first-team career at St James Park.
He has been on the club’s books even longer, joining as a nine year-old. Twenty-one years on from those days, he has all but gone.
Understand Steven Taylor is very close to joining MLS side Portland Timbers. #nufc

A year ago, the Magpies beat the Timbers 4 – 3 on penalties and Taylor was released by Newcastle following relegation to the Championship. He only made ten appearances in last season’s Premier League campaign.
Portland won the MLS Cup and the Western Conference play-offs last year. However at the moment, they sit in 7th place, just outside of the qualifying places for the knockout rounds.
Good luck to Taylor in the USA.
