Newcastle United have yet to receive a bid from Barcelona for striker Ayoze Perez according to the Chronicle.
The Spaniard is reportedly a target for the Catalans who have been frustrated this summer in their search for a back-up to the fabled frontline of Messi, Suarez and Neymar.
The 24 year-old’s profile has increased in his homeland since moving to Tyneside and Barcelona’s sporting director Roberto Fernandez rates the striker highly. With other targets unwilling to sit on the Camp Nou bench, the Catalans are rapidly moving down their list of possible signings.
Newcastle though, have yet to receive any bid for the player and are not minded to sell even if they do.
The story broke yesterday and has all the hallmarks of a classic Barcelona transfer. Soften the player up with a series of media comments before moving onto agree personal terms once the player has indicated their interest.
The Newcastle board, obstinate and stubborn over Moussa Sissoko, may need to be the same over Perez.
