Siem De Jong has passed his medical at PSV Eindhoven and joined the Dutch champions, according to The Chronicle.
The Dutch midfielder links up with his younger brother Luuk at the former European champions, initially on a season-long loan deal.
With the injury problems he has suffered since joining from Ajax a couple of years ago, it must have been a nerve-wracking experience for De Jong to take a medical. Thankfully, he didn’t manage to strain a hamstring getting onto the gurney and avoided falling off the bed – probably the only two injuries he didn’t suffer whilst here on Tyneside.
Whilst it’s easy to mock, De Jong has endured his stay with Newcastle in a similar way that which his younger brother did when he spent 6 months with us and couldn’t hit a barn door.
The younger De Jong has since won the Dutch League twice, scoring 46 goals in 65 appearances which begs the question, what did we do wrong when he was here?!
