Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both submitted bids for Tottenham Hotspur’s DeAndre Yedlin reports The Shields Gazette.
Yedlin spent last season on loan at Sunderland and with David Moyes already struggling to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League, Sunderland are thought to be prepared to try and take the USA international on a permanent deal to the Stadium of Light.
Aston Villa, who have already remodelled their back four with Tommy Elphick and Mile Jedinak, have become active in the transfer market as they surprise everyone with their better than expected form this season.
Like Newcastle, they are adding players capable of playing at a higher level to their squad and are reported to have contacted Spurs about the American as well.
With a week to go until the deadline, Newcastle have picked up the pace in their search for players who will take the club back to the top flight of English football.
