Star makes an admission which is certain to please the Newcastle fans

Newcastle United star Aleksandar Mitrovic has stated that he is ready to ‘die’ on the pitch for the Magpies.

Mitrovic joined Newcastle United from Anderlecht at the start of last season for a fee of around £13 million and although the Serbian managed only 9 goals in 34 appearances, he was able to win over the fans with his committed displays throughout the course of the season.

Following Newcastle’s relegation into the Championship, there was speculation that Mitrovic could potentially be leaving St. James’ Park, with the Daily Mirror claiming that manager Rafael Benitez was not ready to trust the temperamental striker.

However, it looks like Mitrovic is set to stay put at Newcastle and upon his return from a four match suspension, the 21-year-old has made an admission which is certain to please the Magpies’ faithful.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Mitrovic stated that he has managed to settle in England and is now ready to ‘die’ on the pitch to aid Newcastle’s cause.

The former Partizan star was quoted saying, “I know what to expect now – last season I didn’t. I needed time to settle and see how it worked here, but now I know how to play and what to expect.

“I know what to do so I’ll try to be like Ronaldo or Messi and score 50 or 60 goals. If I have to I will die on the pitch for Newcastle.”
