Worrying update in Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Sebastien Haller

Newcastle United could potentially miss out on their hopes of signing Sebastien Haller as Premier League side Southampton have entered the race for the striker, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Newcastle United are currently in the market to sign a new striker before the end of the summer transfer window in a week’s time and it had been reported recently that the Magpies were keen on signing Utrecht star Sebastien Haller.

Claims were made that manager Rafael Benitez was desperate to sign Haller and had even made a personal phone call in order to convince the striker to arrive at St. James’ Park.

However as a blow to Newcastle’s hopes of signing Haller, the Daily Mail have claimed that Premier League side Southampton are planning to hijack a move for the 22-year-old.

Southampton lost the services of key striker Graziano Pelle this summer and it has been revealed by the report that manager Claude Puel has identified Haller as the ideal man to bolster the attack at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
