Rafael Benitez makes worrying admission about Newcastle attacker

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has stated the injury suffered by Rolando Aarons could prove to be serious.

Newcastle United progressed into the third round of the EFL Cup following a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night and although the result was a positive one, it came at a cost for the Magpies.

Ayoze Perez, Dwight Gayle and Rolando Aarons all suffered injuries during the bruising encounter and the fans were understandably left a bit worried about the well being of the trio.

Benitez has now gone on to provide an update on the fitness of the three players and has stated that while the duo of Perez and Gayle should be fit for the weekend clash against Brighton, Aarons is a big doubt.

The Spaniard revealed that Aarons, who left St. James’ Park in a protective boot, has suffered a foot injury and is unaware regarding how long the 20-year-old will be ruled out for.

He was quoted saying by the Chronicle, “We are really pleased with the result because we won and go through. But we are disappointed because we have injuries, three concussions, but I don’t think they will be a problem.

“Rolando has a problem with his foot so we have to wait to see what the doctor says. That is the most serious of the injuries.”
