Newcastle United ready to place £4.2 million bid for 27-year-old attacker

Alessandrini

Newcastle United are planning to make a surprise swoop for Marseille attacker Romain Alessandrini, according to reports from Foot Mercato.

Despite their massive splurge this summer, Newcastle United remain in the market to further strengthen their squad during the final week of the transfer window and signing an offensive player seems to be high on the priority list for manager Rafael Benitez at the moment.

The likes of Bas Dost, Alan Judge and Sebastien Haller are just some of the names that have been touted with a move to Newcastle during the past few weeks and now another player in the form of Romain Alessandrini is believed to be on the radar of the Magpies.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, Newcastle are currently eyeing up a swoop for Alessandrini and the Championship side are believed to be ready to splash as much as £4.2 million in order to sign the 27-year-old attacking midfielder this summer.
