Newcastle finally set to sanction the departure of 30-year-old

Tiote

Newcastle United are finally close to completing the sale of Cheick Tiote, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Following Newcastle United’s relegation into the Championship, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Cheick Tiote and reports had widely claimed that the Ivory Coast international was desperate to leave St. James’ Park this summer.

The likes of Marseille and Al Jazira were mentioned as interested parties in Tiote last month but evidently a transfer had not come into fruition and it seemed like Newcastle would be holding on to the 30-year-old, till January at least.

However, it seems like Tiote will be leaving Newcastle this summer after all as the Daily Mail have gone on to claim that Greek champions Olympiacos are on the verge of sealing a deal for the former Twente star.

The report claims that Newcastle have agreed a fee of around £2 million with Olympiacos over Tiote and the transfer is now on the verge of completion.
