Cheick Tiote’s future is in the balance following the collapse of his move to Galatasaray, reports The Shields Gazette.
But rescue may be at hand with Greek Superleague club Olympiakos ready to take the midfielder to Piraeus this week.
Despite flying to Istanbul, Tiote’s couldn’t agree terrms with the Turkish giants. It’s being made clear that he did not fail his medical as was being reported in the media yesterday.
Rafa Benitez has made it abundantly clear to the Ivory Coast international that he has no future on Tyneside and no interest has been expressed in him from Championship or Premier League clubs. It leaves Tiote racing against the clock to find a new club or facing a season in the footballing wilderness.
The Spaniard hasn’t selected the midfielder for any of the matches so far this season and unlike other players, Benitez hasn’t made overtures toward Tiote if he doesn’t move on.
That is the most telling aspect that Rafa doesn’t rate him compared to the remainder of the squad.
