Benitez reveals he made this signing due to the Newcastle fans

Rafael Benitez has revealed that he decided to sign Christian Atsu upon listening to the fans.

Newcastle United concluded their busy summer in the transfer window by securing the services of Christian Atsu on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.

The signing of Atsu means that Newcastle have brought in a whopping 12 new players to St. James’ Park this summer and the Magpies look very well placed to earn promotion into the Premier League, considering their quality squad.

Upon the completion of Atsu’s transfer, manager Rafael Benitez stated that he is very happy to have finalized the deal and revealed that he made a move for the Ghanaian international after listening to the pleas of the Newcastle fans.

Benitez told the club’s official website: “I agreed with our fans that we needed to bring in another winger, so I am very happy to welcome Christian to the Club.

“He has good ability and pace in the wide areas and also has good experience of English football. He has a different style of play to the other players we have at the moment and that will be important for the squad.”

Atsu struggled during his previous loan spells with the likes of Everton and Bournemouth, and he will now surely be looking forward to enjoying a much more fruitful spell at Newcastle.
