Sunderland legend praises Newcastle United

Sissoko

Sunderland legend Nail Quinn has hailed Newcastle United for getting £30 million from the sale of Moussa Sissoko to Tottenham Hotspur.

There was unsurprisingly a lot of activity during transfer deadline day and arguably the biggest deal of the 24 hours was transfer of Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur.

After much speculation, it seemed like Sissoko would be staying put at Newcastle this summer as interested teams were not ready to match the Magpies’ valuation for the midfielder but Tottenham Hotspur swooped in at the last minute by signing the French international for a staggering £30 million.

While Tottenham would have been happy to have finally landed their long-time target, many felt that Spurs overpaid to recruit the services of the 27-year-old.

On Newcastle United’s part, they certainly did very well to get a team to agree to their whopping asking price for Sissoko and now Sunderland legend Nail Quinn has praised the Magpies’ hierarchy for their astute negotiations.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Quinn said: “First of all, they’ve done really well Newcastle. They’ve bought it to £30 million. I imagine earlier on today that would have been 15, 18, 19, 20. So Newcastle, in terms of negotiating have done very well.”
