Tim Krul told AjaxTV that Moussa Sissoko expected to move to Serie A, reports HITC.
The Dutch goalkeeper, on loan in Amsterdam for the rest of this season, said:
“He thought himself that he would go to Italy, that is what he told me only last week.
“And now he is in London”
Inter Milan were the only Italian club publicly linked with the midfielder but nothing came of that, much like the interest of other big clubs. Changing managers killed that dream.
Not quite as brutally as the delusion he conjured over moving to Real Madrid though.
That was one of the amusing moments amid the sheer tedium over his future. Much the same way that Sam Allardyce’s claim that he could be the Champions League winners boss entered into footballing folklore, it will be some time before that one is forgotten.
Tottenham were arch-negotiators and Daniel Levy pretty much gave Newcastle the asking price for Sissoko. It’s being suggested in some quarters that the purchase was a ‘panic buy’ with other targets deciding that White Hart Lane didn’t offer much chance of glory.
