According to French publication La Provence (Shields Gazette in English), Newcastle United have already agreed a deal with Marseille over the £9.7 million transfer of Florian Thauvin.
Thauvin proved to be a major flop after making a big money move to Newcastle United from Marseille at the start of last season and it was clear to see early on that the winger was simply not cut out for the physical nature of the Premier League.
As a result, Thauvin returned to Marseille during the January transfer window after only six months at St. James’ Park and the Ligue 1 side extended the Frenchman’s stay at the Stade Velodrome for another year this summer.
Thauvin has managed to recapture his best form in France during the current campaign and now according to reports from La Provence, claims have been made that Marseille have already agreed a deal to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis.
The reports state that Thauvin has already played the required number of games to trigger a clause to make his stay at Marseille a permanent one and that Newcastle will be receiving a fee of around £9.7 million from the prospective transfer.
