After conducting a poll on our Twitter account, which is @@NUFCblogcouk for those of you that are wondering, we found that our followers think that Newcastle’s player of the season so far has been Matt Ritchie.
Ritchie received a staggering 55% of the votes on the poll with Dwight Gayle, his nearest challenger, receiving 33%.
The Scottish international, who found himself appearing a substitute at Wembley last night, arrived from Bournemouth in the summer and has been something of a revelation.
So far, Ritchie has put in a string of performances, chipped in with the odd goal and become something of a fan favourite. His ‘Magic Hat’ song can be heard echoing around St James’ even when he isn’t playing.
There can be little doubt that Ritchie is also one of the best players in this division. His range of passing and impressive crossing makes him a force to be reckoned with for any fullback at this level.
