Rafa Has His Say on Hull Disappointment

As reported by the Chronicle, clearly Rafa Benitez was not pleased with last night’s EFL Cup Quarter-Final result, as his side lost to Hull City on Penalties, following a 1-1 draw after extra time. The manager said: “You have to be disappointed.”

Benitez, however, seems very positive about his teams’ performance, adding: “The way that we played we deserved to score goals in the first half and in extra time.

“Then when we did score the goal we didn’t manage the situation. It’s something you learn with experience.

As always, Rafa also found ways that the side can improve, urging them to be more ruthless, saying: “Maybe we will do a little better the next time we have this many chances.” This may also be something the side need to improve on if they are promoted.

When asked if his players had practised taking penalties before the game, Benitez said: “No because, it is different when you have a game compared to a training session.”
