Could There Be Anything In Yesterday’s Anita Rumours?

Rumours were circulating yesterday, that Vurnon Anita may well be a target for the current leaders of the Dutch Eredivisie.

These rumours were seemingly kicked into life, following Anita’s attendance at Feyenoord’s 6-1 win yesterday.

It is worth noting that Anita could have been at that game for any number of reasons. He could have been there supporting a friend, or simply taking in some top-level football.

However, Anita’s contract expires in January. Meaning that he will soon be available to speak to clubs regarding a transfer.

Anita was highly regarded as a young player in his native country, while representing Ajax, before his move to Newcastle.

Before this season, Anita would probably have struggled to find supporters who would have been hugely keen to keep him at the club but, like many players have, he has improved vastly under Rafa Benitez.

He is calm, composed and has excellent technical ability.

Anita’s next biggest asset is his versatility, something that comes in useful over a long season.

This is a simple question – should we keep Vurnon Anita next season?

I think so, the qualities that he possesses are hard to find, especially for a player that does not demand to start every game.

If however, Rafa decides to let him go, then I’m sure his replacement will be an improvement and Rafa will have in mind every quality of Anita’s that must be replaced.
