Sammy Ameobi Recalled – Rafa Explains Why

As reported by the Chronicle, Sammy Ameobi is set to be recalled by Newcastle United, following an impressive loan spell at Bolton Wanderers, in League One.

When asked about Ameobi, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said the following: “We’ll bring him back and see if he is fine and can give us something. We have players going to the African Cup of Nations.

“We have to be sure we have some players. If he’d doing well why not?

“It depends on him if he can stay here or not. It depends how much he can give to us.”

Benitez’s thoughts seem clear enough, he will give Ameobi the chance to impress, after that, the rest is up to the player.

Sammy, younger brother of former Newcastle star Shola Ameobi, is a player with great talent. He is very exciting to watch and can at times, be very effective.

It seemed for all the world that it his time on Tyneside was up though, as he was loaned to Bolton this summer. Hopefully the talented and exciting winger can fill the gap left by Christian Atsu, as he departs for the African Cup of Nations.

  1. Desperate times and all that eh 😆

I had high hopes for Sammy, but if he’s only impressing at league 1 nowadays, shouldn’t we really be looking elsewhere in the market? We need reinforcements to guarantee promotion, or some lads who can come in with the potential to play with the big boys in the Prem one day. As much as I like the lad, I can’t see Sammy being in that bracket now…
