Do We Agree With The Birmingham Manager On This One?

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham City manager Gianfranco Zola felt that his side deserved to win yesterday’s FA Cup tie against Newcastle.

Speaking after the game, Zola said: “I totally believed we deserved to win,”

“I saw the stats, we had more of the possession, more shots and we looked more dangerous than they were.

“We had two very good chances to win the game, he [Lukas] is probably one of the best in the league in those type of situations and so you expect a goal there.

“It didn’t happen but I cannot blame him, he worked hard and scored a goal and helped the team.

“It doesn’t matter, I think is was very important we got something out of the game, I think that will give a big lift to the morale of the place.

“I thought it was the best for consistency, we played throughout the game – apart from maybe the first five-ten minutes. Then we played consistently very well.

“I felt that even last week there were spells of good football but not as continuous as today.

“I believe we got stronger, the more the players get confidence in what they do, the more they do automatically what they are asked to do then this will improve the quality of the football we can play.”
