Big Sam Says What It Would Take For Newcastle To Land Townsend

As reported by the Chronicle, former Newcastle United, and current Crystal Palace boss, Sam Allardyce, has made a statement regarding Newcastle’s reported interest in Palace star Andros Townsend.

Townsend, who joined Crystal Palace from Newcastle in the summer, in an attempt to impress Allardyce, who was then England manager, has been linked with a return to Tyneside.

Many had speculated that Allardyce wants to put his own stamp on the Crystal Palace squad and that he may do so by selling some of their underperforming ‘stars’.

It has also been speculated that Townsend may move on in order to allow Stewart Downing to join Palace on loan from another struggling side,  Middlesbrough.

However, Allardyce was quick to deny this in his most recent press conference, saying: “ In this window you never know what might happen. There’s nobody for sale unless the bid is something we can’t afford to turn down.”
