As reported by the Chronicle, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez appears to be more than happy with the returning Sammy Ameobi.
Ameobi was recalled by Benitez following an impressive loan spell at Bolton Wanderers and made his comeback appearance during the 4-0 win over Rotherham United.
When asked about the winger, Benitez said: “He did well, the fans were happy with him.
“He started the game really well. We know he has quality and he has to show this on the pitch.
“He is training really well and I am pleased for him. We knew we needed a player like him who can bring quality in the wider area and he showed some of that (against Rotherham).
“He did that today.”
Ameobi has now represented Bolton and Newcastle, this season, meaning that if he was to leave Newcastle, it could only mean a return to Bolton and, with any move to Bolton seemingly very unlikely, it looks as though he will be around, for the rest of the season, to help us try to clinch promotion.
