Newcastle United could be set for Wembley trip next season

Should The Magpies get promoted, Newcastle fans look set for a trip to Wembley –  not to win a trophy, but instead, win 3 point against Tottenham Hotspur!

Reports from the BBC today have suggested that the North-London club will be granted approval to play all their 2017/18 home games at Wembley next season, as they wait for their new stadium to be built by, soon to be demolished, White Hart Lane.

This means Newcastle United and the loyal travelling support could have the opportunity to play in the 90,000 capacity stadium, should we secure promotion back to the Premier League over the coming weeks.

It will be not doubt be argued however, that this is far from how fans planned their big day at Wembley. The Geordie faithful have longed for a cup run and subsequent silverware for years now, so a trip to the ‘home of England’ for a league game may well be a somewhat anticlimactic experience:

That being said, Newcastle will far prefer to arrive at Wembley in these circumstances opposed to in May in the Play-off Finals!!

With that in mind, here’s hoping we not only meet Spurs at Wembley in the 2017/18 Premier League season, but also get their on our own merit following a long awaited cup run.
