Former Newcastle United winger Sylvain Marveaux has been arrested in France in connection with the on-going football tax scandal involving Newcastle United, West Ham and Chelsea.
The 31 year-old the winger is said to be one of four suspects detained in Paris and has been ‘answering questions’ on the matter.
It is now understood he has been released, however it is believed that the role of agents is the main focus of the investigation, according to reports either side of the Channel.

Newcastle signed the former Rennes midfielder on a free transfer in July 2015, being said to have signed the talented Frenchman under the noses of Liverpool.
His signing was considered quite a coup at the time, but his move to Tyneside never really worked out, seeing him score just twice in 57 appearances during his five year stint at the club.
Marveaux was released by the club in May 2016 and currently plays at Ligue 1 side Lorient.
