Positive news breaking this morning as the Shields Gazette report that Rafa Benitez and Mike Ashley are ‘close to agreement’ after initial talks over the future of Newcastle.
The pair met at Benton training ground yesterday for their opening round of talks according to the Chronicle, with the Gazette claiming that hose initial talks surrounding Benitez’s future and United’s summers transfer strategy went well.

Ashley was present at St James’s Park to see Newcastle lift the Championship title, with today’s report stating he is ‘keen for the club to hit the ground running in the transfer market this summer’ ahead of the our return to the top flight.
The NUFC owner was pictured celebrating with Benitez and his staff after Sunday’s match, which boded well ahead of their crunch talks this week.
