CONFIRMED: the message NUFC fans will fly over Sunderland’s game tomorrow

It has been revealed what message a group of NUFC fans will  fly over the Stadium of Light on Saturday following Sunderland’s relegation.

After a vote took place to decide what banner would be flown over Wearside during their final home game of the season against Swansea tomorrow, the following message came out on top:

“UNITED BY CANCER, DIVIDED BY LEAGUES”

The man behind the fundraising campaign, Darren Curry, had initially planned to mock the Mackems relegation this weekend, however, his idea came under criticism from several United fans.

It has now been decided that the message will be a show of support for some of the North East’s young cancer battlers –   Frankie Sherwood, Hope Feeney and Bradley Lowery – with all donations to the campaign funding the suffering children and their appeals, opposed to the banner itself.

The winning message ‘United by cancer, divided by leagues’ won the vote by a narrow margin, with “SMB ENJOY THE CHAMPIONSHIP WE DID” having just 2% less of the vote in second placed.

Donations to the children and their associated charities have reached a total of £4,700 and continue to flood in.

  1. What a completely pointless gesture. Just donate the money to charity and stop being a bunch of bell hats!

  2. Sunderland Fan here, don’t mind the banners as I think they’re part and parcel of our rivalry, not keen on mentioned caner in reference to Bradley and the other bairn though, think that should be kept off it.
