Former NUFC boss ‘under consideration’ for vacant Sunderland job following Moyes’ resignation

Ex-NUFC manager Alan Pardew is ‘under consideration’ for the vacant Sunderland job after David Moyes’ resignation last night, according to ESPN.

Just 24 hours after their 5-1 drubbing at Chelsea, David Moyes resigned as manager of Sunderland, leaving the Black Cats searching for a new boss ahead of next season’s Championship campaign.

Late last night, sources close to Alan Pardew are believed to have told ESPN that the former Magpies boss is in the frame for the vacant manager’s job on Wearside.

Pardew has been jobless since his sacking at Crystal Palace at the back end of last year and will be on the look out for work.

Despite leading us to an impressive 5th place finish in 2011/12, Pardew left Tyneside more of a villain than a hero, with his recent shortcomings making this latest rumour all the more amusing to us Newcastle fans.

It remains to be seen as to whether he would take on such a task, but Pardew and Sunderland really could be a match made in heaven (if you’re a Newcastle fan at least!).
