A Newcastle United fan has shared his fascinating story after bumping into Rafa Benitez in his local Sainsbury’s yesterday, revealing some interesting comments made by the Magpies boss.
The star-struck fan admitted on his personal twitter page that the conversation mainly involved wine and restaurant’s in typical down to earth Rafa Benitez fashion, but he did share some interesting insights picked up in a brief discussion about Newcastle United.

Matt admitted that he is still ‘pinching himself’ after meeting and striking up a conversation with the NUFC boss who he describes an an ‘absolute gent’, and shared a small snippet of transfer ‘news’ that he coaxed out of the Spaniard:
After speaking briefly about current goings on, Matt mentioned that Benitez asked him who he would like to see Newcastle sign – in an attempt to divert potential questions the gaffer was unable to answer – seeing Matt recommend Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tottenham’s Ben Davies to the man himself, who seemed keen hear the fan’s views.
Generally nothing we didn’t already know, but a nice story and good to hear that some ‘surprises’ could be coming soon and that any takeover talk won’t stop incomings!
