NUFC announce midfielder exit as he signs three-year-deal with Dutch side FC Twente

Former Newcastle United midfielder Haris Vuckic has officially left the club, signing a three-year-deal with FC Twente in Holland on a free transfer.

It was confirmed this summer that Vuckic would released by Benitez, ending his 8-year spell at the club which has been marred by injuries, bad luck and a failure to fulfil his potential.

When Vuckic arrived in 2009, Newcastle believed they had signed one of Eastern Europe’s most-promising talents and fought off stiff competition for his signature.

8 years on and Vuckic made just 19 appearances in Black and White, combined with several disappointing loan spells with Cardiff, Rotherham, Wigan and Bradford. His most impressive spell was at Rangers, where he scored 9 goals in 22 appearances at Ibrox, but this was in the 2nd tier of Scottish football.

Good luck to Haris. It hasn’t worked out for him at Newcastle, but he seems a decent bloke who, at 24, needs a fresh start.
