CONFIRMED – Newcastle United submit loan offer for Liverpool winger

Newcastle United have submitted a loan bid to sign highly-rated Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo and  are currently in talks with Liverpool to bring the 20-year-old to St. James’ Park according to The Chronicle.

The Independent (one of the more reliable papers) broke the news last night, claiming that Newcastle were leading the race ahead for the England U-20 prospect, stating that Ojo favours a move to Newcastle over Burnley and Middlesbrough.

Rafa Benitez is believed to be a big fan of the left-winger and saw a loan bid for him rejected by Liverpool in January – with Jurgen Klopp wanting to hand him opportunities in last season’s FA Cup.

I caught a glimpse of Ojo during England’s U-20 World Cup success and he certainly looks like a direct winger with pace and the ability to beat a man. He appears to have all those traits in abundance, but his final ball is understood to be the area of his game that lacks consistency.

Ojo could be a handy addition to the squad – if he’s good enough for Rafa he’s good enough for me – however I would like to think we will still bring in a more proven senior winger this summer should he arrive on loan.
