Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong looks set for another loan move away from Tyneside, with newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers one of several Championship and League one clubs interested in the 20-year-old reports The Chronicle.
After winning the World Cup with England U-20’s this summer, Armstrong will return to pre-season training with Newcastle next Monday, however his immediate future appears to be away from Tyneside.
Armstrong scored 20 goals in 40 games during his loan spell at League 1 side Coventry in the 2015/16 season, however, the Geordie striker had less of an impact in his latest stint at Barnsley, scoring 6 goals in 34 appearances in the Championship last season.
For me a move to a Championship club is essential for his development. He has proved his capabilities in League One after excelling with Coventry, however his biggest challenge will be to make an impact in the second tier following a mixed spell with Barnsley last season.
Don’t send this lad somewhere he will struggle for service. Next step is a championship club that is expected to do well (obviously needs to be balanced against game time)
