NUFC ‘willing’ to offer want-away striker £70,000 a week to bring him to St. James’ Park?

Burnley look set to lose star striker Andre Gray this summer after his contract talks stall, with the Chronicle claiming that Newcastle may be prepared to ‘steal in and take advantage’ by offering him the £70,000 a week wages he desires to lure him to Tyneside.

Gray, who scored 9 Premier League goals for Burnley last season, has entered the last 12 months of his contract with Burnley and it has been regularly suggested that he is a striker Newcastle have their eye on this summer.

Burnley have clearly made an attempt to extend his contract at the club – in an attempt to not only keep on of their prize assets but to allow him to demand a greater fee should he leave this summer.

The Chronicle now claim that Rafa Benitez may look to make his move, with Newcastle understood to be in the market for TWO new strikers this summer.

His 9 goal haul last season was hardly prolific, but his pace and energy combined with his eye for goal make him a player with Premier League potential and someone who could prove to be real coup for the club if we can fend off the inevitable competition for him this summer.
