Rafa Benitez looks set return to Spain in search of new recruits this summer, with The Chronicle suggesting today that Florian Lejeune’s arrival from Eibar won’t be hist last, revealing we have ‘held talks’ with a La Liga central midfielder this week.
The Spaniard has several links with La Liga following spells in charge of Valencia, Real Madrid, Tenerife, Osasuna and Real Valladolid to name a few and will look to make use of those to deliver some astute signings this summer.
Interestingly, The Chronicle report that we ‘held talks’ for a ‘central midfielder currently contracted to one of La Liga’s top sides’ over the last week – an exciting nugget of info that will has me wondering.
It is also stated that Sandro Ramirez, who has this week signed for Everton, was a real target for Benitez this summer, with the former Malaga forward appearing to be a steal at just £5.25m. Granted that was due to a release clause, but Benitez will be hoping he can find similar deals this summer.
