Transfer talk – a round up of today’s NUFC transfer gossip – 07/07/2017

Today’s round up of all NUFC related transfer talk:

  • Sky Sports confirm Newcastle have today turned down a £5m bid for NUFC goalkeeper Karl Darlow, with Gary Monk’s side expected to come back with an improved bid.
  • The Chronicle claim that Darlow could be sold to fund a move for Benitez’ number one goalkeeping target Pepe Reina.
  •  Newcastle United could be ready to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, with Rafa Benitez keen to bring him back to the club if Palace are willing to do business (The Northern Echo)

  • Rafa Benitez is keen to secure the signing of Benfica midfield Andreas Samaris, however may have to “juggle resources” as United don’t have a “vast transfer budget.” (The Mirror)
  • Hatem Ben Arfa has been told he is free to leave PSG this summer, however The Chronicles Lee Ryder has described any potential return to NUFC as ‘unlikely’.
  • Siem De Jong, Tim Krul, Henri Saivet and Emmanuel Riviere will be given ‘one last chance’ to impress Rafa Benitez during pre-season (The Chronicle)
  • Recently released defender Vurnon Anita has joined Leeds United on a free transfer, penning a three-year deal with the Championship side.
