There has been a BIG development over Jacob Murphy’s potential move to Newcastle United this morning, with NUFC representatives set to meet with Norwich today after the winger has made it clear to his agent he wants to join Newcastle.
It was reported over the weekend that Newcastle had made an £8m bid for the England U-21 winger, however that offer was rejected, causing a stand-off between the two clubs after our bid fell way short of their alleged £16m valuation.
Today, however, it has been made clear that Murphy is ready to push for a move to his boyhood club, and according to Sky Sports, the two clubs will meet today in hope of agreeing a fee.
Jacob Murphy has told his agent he wants move to #nufc and meetings with #ncfc will take place today. More to follow.

As soon as Jacob Murphy was aware of interest from #nufc he asked his reps to make it happen. Clubs some way apart on valuation currently.

Player power is huge these days and Murphy, who has family in the North-East and is an avid Newcastle fan, has demanded a move. This bodes well for us, however the sticking point could still be the fee.
Norwich are believed to want DOUBLE the £8m we have previously offered, and it has been suggested in the Northern Echo this morning that Lee Charnley will offer a ‘take it or leave it’ £10m bid today, refusing to get involved in a bidding war.
And therein lies the problem with Charnleys approach. I will offer you less than you value the player and less than other clubs will offer.. Take it or leave it

NCFC must demand and get their agreed asking price, he is a young man developed through our academy, if he tries to force a move put him in U23 squad, tell him to get his head sorted, if he wants to play in first 11 again this season, play his twin (arguably the better player) especially going forward.
He commited to NCFC and was given a very good 4-1/2 year contract (as was his brother)which has 4 years to run. NCFC must protect the management and integrity of the club, and if that means we have to let him sulk for a few weeks so be it. He will soon realise that his immediate future is with the club who believed in him. If he improves again this season his worth will go up yet again.

Can’t really fault the boy wanting to play in the premier league with a team that’s not yo yoing and the most important thing is that he supports NUFC. Good luck to him there’s no need to be nasty towards him. And really these people on here saying that his twin is better sour grapes in my opinion don’t forget he supports NUFC also. He may be the next one leaving come January.

Don,
He’s a Newcastle fan. If you played for a club in the championship and the club you supported from a childhood and are in the premier league wanted to buy you, you would want to move. You can’t deny that.

How can they seriously think he’s worth £16m when he’s not even played in the PL? £10m would be a lot to pay for a completely unproven youngster, and would help them massively with being stuck in the championship. Norwich you are in dreamland!
