Manchester City & West Brom make their moves to sign TWO heavily linked NUFC targets

Newcastle appear to be finally making headway in the transfer market this week, however we must act quickly if we hope to sign heavily linked duo Pepe Reina and Kieran Gibbs, with Manchester City joining the race for Reina and West Brom having made their move to sign Kieran Gibbs.

Newcastle’s interest in Reina has become a bit of a long-winded saga this summer, with it being widely reported that the 34-year old is Benitez’s number one goalkeeping target.

Rumours suggested last week that he was set to sign a new contract at Napoli, however Manchester City have now entered the race for his signature, with various reports confirming they have had a £2.6m bid rejected by Napoli – who are believed to want £4.4m.

Reina would arrive at the Etihad as a back-up option to Ederson – who was signed for £34m earlier in the transfer window by Pep Guardiola’s side – but Newcastle must act quickly if they wish for Rafa to be reunited with his top goalkeeping target.

Now to Gibbs. Whilst signing a left-back is not believed to be our top priority at present, our interest in Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs does exit, having been confirmed by local press.

The England International looks set to leave The Emirates this summer, and his alleged asking price of £12m is one that represents real value for money in the current climate. Sky Sports have confirmed that West Brom are actively looking to secure a deal, however.

It’s great to see Newcastle making headway in the market – with the Jacob Murphy set to complete a £12m move today – but Reina and Gibbs would be two players who’d improve the goalkeeping and left-back areas considerably.

Here’s hoping we make a move before it’s too late.
