Exclusive claims NUFC will battle West Ham and Swansea to sign Arsenal midfielder

News arriving this afternoon from The Telegraph who claim Newcastle are considering a loan move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere and could face competition from Premier League rivals West Ham and Swansea for his signature.

The 25-year old midfielder spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 35 appearances in all competitions – a vast improvement on previous seasons given his torrid injury record.

That injury record would be my biggest concern if we were to pursue a deal for Wilshere, however if we could keep him fit, he could be a more than useful signing, with the England international having undoubted talent.

It was reported earlier this week that Arsenal would listen to £9m offers for the central midfielder, however today’s news suggests a loan deal could be in the offing:

Whilst his fitness problems are a concern, Wilshere could be a smart acquisition on loan and could help fill the creative void left when Jonjo Shelvey is out of the team.

I imagine a move to West Ham could be his preferred choice, given he currently resides in London. Given his injury record, I would not lose any sleep if we did miss out on this one, but he’s certainly a player who could offer something different to our midfield.

  1. NO. Wilshere didn’t do particularly well at Bournmouth. They didn’t attempt to sign him themselves did they ? His injury record reminds me of Michael Owen. He WAS good. He’s run of the mill now and NOT worth £20 mill PLUS. Arsenal know this thats why they’re trying to get shot of him

  2. Would rather we tried too get Delph too be honest or try too bring Cabaye back .
