Forgotten Liverpool man confirmed as a ‘potential target’ for NUFC

A new name has been thrown into the mix of strikers Newcastle are looking at this summer, with Liverpool’s Danny Ings identified as a ‘potential target’ according to The Chronicle.

The 25-year old striker earned a move to Merseyside in 2015 after bagging 11 goals in his debut Premier League season for Burnley, however has endured an injury-hit couple of seasons at Anfield, suffering badly from knee ligament problems.

Ings is closing in on a return and is expected to be handed his chance by Jurgen Klopp over the coming season, however The Chronicle claim he is one of several strikers under consideration by Rafa Benitez – with Arsenal’s Lucas Perez and Bordeaux’s Diego Rolan also on that list.

Whilst Ings has undoubted ability, his injury record suggests he is a player who could not be relied upon, having barely kicked a ball in almost 2 years now.

He could be a good option, but it’s a risk I wouldn’t be willing to take – especially in such a key area of the pitch.
