Moussa Sissoko’s Spurs nightmare looks set to come to an end, but not in the way he may have imagined, with the former NUFC midfielder looking set for a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
As we all know too well, the Frenchman was hit and miss during his time on Tyneside and earned a shock £30m move to Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day last summer.
Since then Sissoko has endured a torrid time in the capital, failing to live up to his price tag after looking sorely out of place in Mauricio Pochettino’s slick Spurs side, and he now looks set to be shipped out less than 12 months after his arrival.
Trabzonspor president Muharrem Usta said the following about the former Magpie midfielder, confirming the Turkish side were in talks to sign him:
“We are in talks with Moussa Sissoko.
“He is a very important player, Tottenham paid £35 million for him.
“He didn’t live up to expectations last season but this can happen in football.
“We want to loan him and get his career back on track.
“Obviously Tottenham do not want to give up on a player they paid that kind of money for but we will see.”
A potentially sobering move for the Sissoko, who’s constant mentions of a ‘Champions League’ move look to have bitten him firmly on the backside.
