BREAKING: Newcastle United strike deal to sign Chelsea outcast on season-long loan

Some breaking news tonight, with it being revealed that Newcastle have agreed a season-long loan deal for Chelsea’s Brazilian winger Kenedy according to The Mirror.

The former Fluminense prospect can operate as a left winger or at left-back and the club’s official media partner have confirmed that he will become our sixth signing of the summer.

Benitez is believed to have offered the 21-year old Brazilian an escape route to the north-east after learning he was up for grabs and has moved quickly to secure his signature for the season – having several well placed contacts at Chelsea from his spell in charge at Stamford bridge four years ago.

Kenedy has scored 2 goals in 22 appearances for Chelsea following his £6.3m arrival from Fluminense two years ago and spent last season on loan at Watford –  however made just one appearance for the Hornets after a several injury problems.

Interestingly, The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder stated earlier this week that Newcastle were working on a couple of loan deals and this appears to be one of them, with the loan signing of Kenedy appearing all but done.

It’s yet to be disclosed whether we will have an buy-out clause or obligation to buy in place, but it looks like Kenedy will become the 4th Brazilian ever to play for in black and white after Mirandinha, Cacapa and Fumaca.

  1. Do we think this is a wise move, given the close proximity of SJP to Chinatown and also the small matter that the clubs shirt sponsors are CHINESE.

I’m ethnic Chinese and I’m not offended. It’s just social media banter… nothing racist. Totally overblown .

Kenedy is a fantastic talent in Chelsea’s sizeable Brazilian contingent. A few years ago, Chelsea fans were highly praising their KFC attacking trio: Kenedy, Falcao, Costa.

  3. Stupid social media posts from a 21 year old footballer who is rich and spoiled. No surprise there. Worse than his stupid posts was his defence afterwards. It was casual and stupid racism. Nothing sinister but certainly something that a footballer getting paid £10s of thousands a week should avoid. Social media training and a cultural sensitivity course beckons I feel…

I wouldn’t write off the player on the basis of one stupid act though, we all make mistakes. It’s if he doesn’t learn then he’ll end up being hated and not maximising his talent like Ranger or El Hadji Diouf.
