Newcastle United’s new signing Joselu has expressed his desire to score ‘a lot of’ goals for the Magpies upon his arrival.
Following a long wait, Newcastle United have finally brought in a new striker to the club this summer in the form of Joselu and while fans would have been relieved to see the Magpies reinforcing their attacking department, the Spaniard is not a player who has filled majority of the St. James’ Park faithful with a lot of excitement.
Prior to playing for Stoke City, Joselu has turned out for the likes of Celta Vigo, Real Madrid, 1899 Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96 and Deportivo La Coruna among others but despite playing for such quality teams, the 27-year-old’s record of 34 goals in 139 career games is nothing to write home about.
Nonetheless, Joselu arrives at Newcastle with a chance for a fresh start and the towering striker has stated his ambition of scoring ‘a lot of goals’ for his new side.
After signing for United Joselu said, “I’m a player who works hard and tries to score a lot of goals as well. My movement is good in the area and I try to help the club a lot to win the games and I want to work hard in training and the games and score goals to win games.”
While Joselu may not have captured the imagination of the Newcastle faithful, he is a physical presence in front of goal and could be a very useful alternative to Dwight Gayle throughout the course of the campaign.
