According to reports from the Birmingham Mail, Newcastle United are currently involved in talks with Aston Villa over the transfer of Jack Colback.
Newcastle United snapped up Jack Colback from fierce rivals Sunderland back in the summer of 2014 and in addition to angering the Black Cats faithful, the midfielder had been seen as a good signing for the Magpies on a free transfer.
However, Colback has not quite been able to win over the Newcastle United fans during his three years at the club so far and after allegedly falling out with manager Rafael Benitez this summer, the 27-year-old is said to have been made available for a transfer.
With Colback earning around £50,000-per-week, Benitez is keen on offloading the Englishman as soon as possible so as to reduce the wage bill at the club and according to reports carried out by the Birmingham Mail, it has been claimed that Aston Villa are interested.
The reports states that Villa have been in talks with Newcastle over the signing of Colback for well over a month now and as the transfer deadline day approaches closer, the Championship side are said to be keen on snapping up the divisive midfielder as soon as possible.
