According to reports from the Sun, Spanish side Malaga are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
There was a sense of cautious optimism when Newcastle United signed Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht back in the summer of 2015 and understandably so.
Mitrovic had been making waves in Belgium with his goalscoring prowess prior to his arrival to Newcastle but at the same time, he was deemed as a risk due to his volatile personality.
Two years on from his move to St. James’ Park though, it has to be said that Newcastle’s gamble on Mitrovic has not paid off.
The striker has provided some memorable moments for the fans but his attitude has been questionable and it looks like the Serbian international has fallen out of favour with manager Rafael Benitez.
Therefore, Mitrovic is widely expected to be leaving St. James’ Park this summer and now according to reports from the Sun, La Liga outfit Malaga are keen on signing the divisive striker.
Malaga allegedly want to sign Mitrovic on loan but Newcastle are looking to offload the 22-year-old on a permanent basis and it will be interesting to see if the two sides come to a resolution.
A section of the Newcastle fans love Mitrovic but at the same time, he perhaps cannot be trusted and the sale of the attacker could prove to be beneficial for all parties involved.
