According to reports from the Daily Mirror, West Ham United have eyed up Rafael Benitez as one of the potential candidates to replace Slaven Bilic.
West Ham United have endured a very difficult start to their campaign so far following consecutive defeats against Manchester United and Southampton, and as a result, it is believed that manager Slaven Bilic’s position at the London Stadium has already come under threat.
Bilic endured a difficult campaign with West Ham last term and the poor start during the current campaign as led to the club hierarchy to consider the long term position of the Croatian manager – if reports from the Daily Mirror are to be believed.
In addition, the report states that West Ham are already on the lookout for potential replacements for Bilic and have now eyed up a swoop for Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez.
Benitez had rejected an approach from the Hammers back in 2015 but London side are now said to be confident of their chances as the Spaniard has been left unhappy at St. James’ Park due to the fact that the Magpies’ hierarchy have not backed him in the transfer window this summer.
The loss of Benitez would surely be a huge blow for Newcastle and the club should do all they can during the final week of the summer transfer window to match his ambitions.
