According to reports from the Guardian, Newcastle United are currently in talks with Barcelona over the signing of Munir El-Haddadi.
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has repeatedly stated that his current squad is not good enough to compete in the Premier League and as a result, the Spaniard is expected to bring in a host of players to St. James’ Park during the final days of the transfer window.
Improving the attacking areas will be one of the many priorities for Benitez and now according to reports from the Guardian, claims are being made that the Magpies boss is currently plotting an ambitious move for Munir El-Haddadi from Barcelona.
El-Haddadi burst into the scene at Barcelona back in 2014 and was unsurprisingly compared to superstar Lionel Messi due to his performances as well as promise.
However, the 21-year-old has not quite been able to fulfill his potential and following an underwhelming loan spell at Valencia last season, Barcelona could elect to sell the youngster this summer.
Crystal Palace have been showing interest in El-Haddadi in recent times and now even Newcastle have joined in the race for the Spanish international, with the Magpies already believed to be in discussions with the Catalans over a potential move.
