According to reports from ESPN, FA’s panel of former referees are currently reviewing Aleksandar Mitrovic’s elbow on Manuel Lanzini.
Aleksandar Mitrovic displayed his best as well as worst side during a cameo appearance in Newcastle United’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.
Mitrovic capped off a fine Newcastle performance after coming off the bench to score the Magpies’ third goal in expert fashion but he was also lucky not to have been sent off earlier on in the game after appearing to elbow into West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini face.
As the incident was missed by referee Neil Swarbrick and his assistants, the Football Association has set up a 3-man committee to review Mitrovic’s elbow on Lanzini and if the striker is found guilty of ‘violent conduct’, he will be handed a retrospective three match ban.
The potential three match suspension could mean that Mitrovic will miss Newcastle United’s important clashes against Stoke City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool.
